Walk in the Light

Matthew 5:14-16 –

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bowl, but on a lamp stand and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.  And God saw that the light was good, suitable, and pleasant and He approved it; and God separated the light from the darkness.

*Light is three-fold, it has three great rays – like God, divine perfection.

Red, the heat ray which is felt, not seen, testifies of the Father.
No man has seen the Father at any time.  Christ has declared, revealed, and interpreted him. Christ brought him out where He can be seen and has made him known.  God abides, lives, and remains in us.  Therefore, his love is brought to completion and is perfected in us.

Yellow, the light ray which is seen, not felt, testifies of Jesus.
For whoever sees Jesus sees the Father.  Christ is the exact likeness of the unseen God.  The visible representation of the invisible.  Christ is the sole expression of the glory of God, the radiance of the divine.

Blue, chemical ray which is neither seen nor felt, testifies of the Holy Spirit.
Whose presence is revealed by its effects in a chemical action, as in photography or photosynthesis.  The Holy Spirit produces change.  Just as the wind blows where it will, no one knows where it comes from or where it goes.  So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

So, if we are living and walking in the light, we have true unbroken fellowship with one another and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin and guilt.  If we do not take the time to fill our lamps, we cannot shine for his word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. “Let it Shine!”

Carry Your Candle

For we were once darkness, but we were purchased by him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.  Now, we are children of light in the Lord.  Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness.  The effect of the light consists of goodness, righteousness, and truth proving what is acceptable to the Lord.  We are to live purposefully, worthily, and accurately not as the unwise.

We are to walk in the light so our joy may be full and complete.  This is the message of promise, God is light and there is no darkness in him at all.

Awake, O sleeper! Arise from the death of sin to union with the living Lord and Christ shall shine!

When others see us in our homes, our neighborhoods, or the workplace, do they experience the radiance of Christ?  Are they drawn to the light from within us?
If not, may we humbly pray giving thanks to God the Father in Christ Jesus for his mercy upon our lives, then continually ask him to teach us how to be the city on a hill whose lamp stand is not covered under a bowl, but shines.

May we learn to shine in the darkness and light our world.

I’d like to close with the following two items:

“There are persons so radiant, so genial, so kind, so pleasure-bearing,
that you instinctively feel in their presence that they do you good,
whose coming into a room is like the bringing of a lamp there.”  Henry Ward Beecher

About Bernadette

I am a widow/single mom excited about finding new adventure, even if it stretches my abilities. Daily, I am challenged by the wisdom of the Bible, Oswald Chambers’ devotionals and the “still small voice” of the Lord as He meets with me every morning. I have enjoyed lots of fun things with my kids and friends... ice fishing, scuba diving, traveling, sleeping in the rain forest with little critters, camping (even below zero weather), hiking, biking (250 mi. ride, the Royal Gorge-lovely), walking a tight rope (25 ft.), built/slept in a quinzhee. Yes, scouting can stretch one beyond belief when you're a mom. I enjoy outdoor activities, cycling and just recently, standup paddle boarding (it doesn’t hurt when you fall). I love Colorado, great place to live! I am discovering how much I love “words”… His Words. They are written on my heart and constantly on my mind. With much prayer and a humble heart, may the words I write be pleasing to Him. And He said unto them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature. Mark 16:15
